Assignment 4: 3D Printed Hollow Form Object; Won't be the First, Won't be the Last

Image
Hannah Mhairi OBDF110 September 23, 2024 Won't be the First, Won't be the Last     This design was inspired by me trying to go SIMPLER and honest when it got featured on POTW, I figured this one would be good one to roll with. It ended up kind of looking like a female form, particularly it reminded me of, in Art History, we've seen a few images of the female form carved in stone. It reminded me of that when it was done. That's where the title for this assignment comes from. The female form has been portrayed time and time again in countless different mediums, but it is such a natural thing to want to illustrate. So do it. You won't be the first, and you won't be the last. I think people need to remember that more often when debating whether or not they want to carry out a concept. I often get discouraged when I see someone execute I thought of "on my own." But the reality is, nowadays, if you thought of it, someone else probably already has, too. So e...

Assignment 3: Hollow Form Object: Concept Generation

Image
Hannah Mhairi OBDF110 September 21, 2024 Hollow Form Object: Concept Generation     For this assignment, I've really struggled. I don't understand all the concepts and it's overwhelming me. I haven't been able to receive the answers to my questions which has left me feeling more stressed. I do not have comments about each individual photo I am going to include but I will add them. As to why some of them look like they've been screenshotted from a different program, that's because they have. I meant to send myself my concepts in rhino format, but accidentally sent them as .STL's, and so to open them from my home computer they look weird. Anyways, without further ado...     First, I will show you my very first concepts. I was going way too complex for my first concepts, I think.     Things were not going well at this point but I honestly felt less confused then, than I do now. Carrying on.     None of the things listed above would work for wha...

Assignment 2: Castle; Cathedral

Image
Hannah Mhairi My Cathedral  For this assignment, I decided to very loosely base my castle off of this specific image of St. Paul's cathedral. I've always been interested in the Victorian era, the architecture, the aesthetics, so that is why I felt compelled to do something like this. I felt a bit in over my head at times but I'm quite pleased with the outcome! Here she is in all her glory. Check out the crosses on top! I was pretty proud of myself for executing those. If you look closely at the windows pictured above, you'll notice there's an angle to the windows. They are shallower on the inside and wider on the outside, I thought it added some nice dimension to these 2nd floor windows. I do think this Cathedral is a bit like a bad ponytail, it's best if you don't stare at it from the back for too long. I also feel as though I could use some work with texturing, but I'm hoping maybe we'll be covering this more in class soon. For my cathedral, I use...

Assignment 1: Voxel Model; Propane Tank

Hannah Mhairi                                                                                                           September 8, 2024 Voxel Model: Propane Tank           For my voxel model I decided to make a propane tank. For me, this represents summer because I am a glassblower, more specifically a flameworker, and we use propane as our gas. Glass is my passion, I am here today because of my passion for glass, and my summer was completely focused on glass, therefore, I chose a propane tank. Originally, I wanted to model the torch that I work on, but I quickly realized that would be a bit ambitious for my first assignment, as I’m not familiar with the programs we are...
