Assignment 2: Castle; Cathedral
Hannah Mhairi
My Cathedral
For this assignment, I decided to very loosely base my castle off of this specific image of St. Paul's cathedral. I've always been interested in the Victorian era, the architecture, the aesthetics, so that is why I felt compelled to do something like this.
I felt a bit in over my head at times but I'm quite pleased with the outcome!
Here she is in all her glory.
Check out the crosses on top! I was pretty proud of myself for executing those.
If you look closely at the windows pictured above, you'll notice there's an angle to the windows. They are shallower on the inside and wider on the outside, I thought it added some nice dimension to these 2nd floor windows.
I do think this Cathedral is a bit like a bad ponytail, it's best if you don't stare at it from the back for too long.
I also feel as though I could use some work with texturing, but I'm hoping maybe we'll be covering this more in class soon. For my cathedral, I used metal and turned the roughness down to around 30-38%. I feel as though the texturing could look a bit more realistic, but overall I'm very happy with my project and I think I executed what we learned in last weeks class decently!
